First edition, dedication copy and the first copy to be printed, inscribed to forensic pathologist Dr. Richard O. Myers, the subject of Gardner’s four-page dedicatory foreword to the novel: “To my friend Richard O. Myers M.D. This first copy of the first edition (see certification on following page) with all good wishes. Yours, Erle. Erle Stanley Gardner. April 1961.” This copy also contains a tipped-leaf signed by the manufacturer certifying that it was the first volume of the first edition to come off the press.“
