Description

FIRST EDITION OF THE TWITS, BOLDLY INSCRIBED BY ROALD DAHL

DAHL, Roald. The Twits. Illustrations by Quentin Blake. London: Jonathan Cape, (1980). Octavo, original red cloth, original dust jacket.

First edition of Dahl’s story about the dreadful Mr. and Mrs. Twit, who play ugly tricks on each other, boldly inscribed across the entire front free endpaper: “To ANNA with love from Roald Dahl. April, 20, 1981.”

“Most of Dahl’s stories revolve around a strict portrayal of good versus evil, and the child who embodies the good is always triumphant. Evil, whether it is represented by landowners, witches, giants, or nasty children, is always severely done away with in the end” (Silvey, 185). Connolly, 102, 10.

Book fine, bright dust jacket with only light wear to extremities. A near-fine inscribed copy.
